Urgent:Carlos Alcaraz Rushed to the hospital in a critical condition
Following a humiliating elimination against the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai, Carlos Alcaraz announced a period of time off from tennis.
Alcaraz has chosen to take a week off from all tennis-related activities before starting training at the Ferrero Tennis Academy on Thursday, October 19, according to a report published by the Spanish magazine Marca.
Marca adds that the world number two’s program now consists of three events: the Paris Masters, the Swiss Indoors in Basel, and the ATP Finals. The goal is to try to surpass Djokovic in the year-end rankings.
Alcaraz said it was getting harder for him to end the season as the top seed after the heartbreaking loss in Shanghai. “I am a little further ahead after this loss, and it will be more difficult for me to win the top spot. I will do my best because I have some events coming up. If I want a chance to complete the year as number one, I will try to win them. I am not sure, but I have lost a lot of chances to succeed so far,” he remarked.
