Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month musicians have been announced, including Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.During the month of live music, Fontaines D.C., Tom Grennan, and Little Mix’s Jade and Perrie will also perform.Havana hitmaker Cabello will open this year’s Live Lounge on September 30.
Artists typically play a live, acoustic version of their own song plus a cover of another artist during the on-air part.It will air during Rickie, Melvin, and Charlie’s Radio 1 broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.Presenters claimed to be “buzzing” about the format’s comeback.They claimed that “it continues to deliver year after year and we know it will do the same this time around.”
Glass Animals, FINNEAS, beabadoobee, Michael Kiwanuka, and Jungle are among the other musicians who have been revealed; more are expected to follow.Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Jungle, and Tom Grennan will each perform two more tracks at this year’s special Live Lounge Extra, which will air during Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders.Amy Winehouse’s 2007 rendition of Valerie by the Zutons was voted the best-ever performance by the station’s hosts at the Live Lounge’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Stars including Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus have graced the format over the years, and their performances have received millions of views.The Live Lounge is “where the biggest acts in the world gather to have some fun and give outstanding performances,” according to Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1.“It is where fans may see their favorite performers in a way they have never seen them before.”
