Kentucky basketball continues to assert its presence on the national stage, with two Wildcats projected to be selected in the latest NBA mock draft released by *The Athletic*. The mock draft highlights the strong development under head coach Mark Pope and reaffirms the program’s reputation as a pipeline to the pros.
Sophomore guard Trevon Brazier and freshman forward Malik Richardson were both featured in the first-round projections. Brazier, known for his two-way play and clutch shot-making, is slotted at No. 17 overall, while Richardson, a 6-foot-10 athletic big with a high ceiling, appears at No. 23.
NBA scouts reportedly praised Brazier’s improved decision-making and perimeter defense, while Richardson has turned heads with his length, versatility, and untapped potential.
“This is exactly what we aim for—developing players who are ready for the next level,” said Coach Pope in response to the projections. “These guys have earned every bit of this recognition, and there’s still more work to do.”
If the projections hold, it would mark another successful draft year for Kentucky, which has sent over 30 players to the NBA in the past 15 years. The official 2025 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 26.
