Since Miami lost its main kick returner in wide receiver Key’Shawn Smith to the transfer portal, Joseph figures to be a top candidate to fill that hole.
It was inevitable that Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph, a wide receiver for Edison of Miami, Florida, would join the Miami Hurricane after he decided to leave the Clemson Tigers. Mario Cristobal and company have focused on keeping the best local talent in the area.
Joseph, a talented route runner out of the slot and an explosive kick and punt returner, is an instant impact player for the Hurricanes. With Brashard Smith and Xavier Restrepo back, Miami does not need a slot receiver right now, but having several players that a club can use at the slot receiving position is a nice problem to have.
In addition to having speed, route running, and solid hands out of the slot, Joseph is a well-rounded receiver. Joseph has proven to be a decent blocker for his size and an adept jet sweeper.
Joseph is one of just two wide receivers committed to the Hurricanes in the 2023 class, along with Robby Washington of Miami (Fla.).
