Rueben Chinyelu leaves the Florida Gators basketball team and gives three main explanations for why he chose to play for Duke.
Chinyelu, a 6-foot-8 forward from Lawrenceville, Georgia, had initially committed to the Gators in early 2023. Chinyelu thinks that Scheyer and his coaching staff’s advice will better prepare him for a professional future, as the Blue Devils have a history of producing players of NBA caliber.
Chinyelu also cited Duke’s history and tradition of excellence as a key consideration in his choice. The Blue Devils are known for their academic rigor and have a rich history that includes five NCAA crowns and other conference titles. Chinyelu is well aware of the powerful reputation Duke has in the academic community as well as on the court.
He stated that “at Duke, greatness is expected.” “I have always respected the program’s past, and I have always wanted to contribute
