Parents of Zverev describe Sharypova as unstable and uneasy.
Olympic champion Alexander Zverev of Tokyo has denied any wrongdoing and stated that he intends to file a lawsuit in response to Olya Sharypova, his ex-girlfriend, accusing him of domestic abuse.
Zverev, the runner-up at the US Open the previous year, is ranked fourth going into the hardcourt tennis match that kicks off on Tuesday AEST as part of the New York Grand Slam.
The German tennis player refuted Sharypova’s allegations of physical and psychological abuse from October of last year.
“I have given the case to my American and German attorneys. Zverev stated, “They have already secured a preliminary injunction against the source and the writer who disseminated the bogus accusations.
The court accepted our arguments and declared that the charges made were untrue and defamatory. As a result, the attorneys have filed additional lawsuits against the author and the source.
The article was upheld by Slate magazine.
Spokesman Katie Rayford stated, “We stand by our fair and factual reporting based on several sources and interviews, even though Slate does not comment on pending litigation.”
Zverev, meanwhile, said he backs an idea by the ATP Tour to create a domestic violence policy similar to those used in some team sports leagues.
“I also totally endorse the introduction of an ATP domestic violence policy,” tweeted Zverev.
“I shall not handle this topic any further.”
