Eight days after committing to Texas, four-star defensive tackle Joseph Mbatchou flipped to Florida on Sunday night. He had a particular place in his heart for the Gators, who were his first pledge.

However, with less than 72 hours until pen touches paper, it raises the question of where the other members of Texas football’s 2025 class stand.

On Thursday night, the Texas Longhorns secured a significant commitment in their pursuit of a third receiver for their 2025 recruiting class. Wideout Lucas Lovejoy Previously pledged to Florida State, Daylan McCutcheon has formally retracted his pledge.

McCutcheon, a member of Rivals100, had been committed to FSU since July, but in recent weeks, he has been reevaluating his choice. After his visit to Austin two Saturdays ago to watch the Longhorns play Mississippi State, things started to move further in the direction of Texas. Before formally switching his commitment to Texas on Thursday, McCutcheon will ultimately decommit from Florida State in private on Wednesday.

McCutcheon, ranked No. 96 on the Rivals100, is one of the Longhorns’ wide receiver pledges, along with Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett. He becomes the 21st overall commitment for UT. Texas is recruiting McCutcheon, who weighs 175 pounds and is 6-0, to play in the slot. He stated that he intends to entirely stop recruiting now that he has committed to Texas.
