I’ am Darren Harris, Here are my reasons for flipping to Michigan….
When Darren Harris, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound four-star small forward from renowned Paul VI Catholic (VA) High School, committed to the Blue Devils on Saturday, new Duke coach Jon Scheyer extended his amazing recruiting run. He choose Duke over Ohio State, Miami, and Maryland, and he was ranked as the tenth best small forward in the Class of 2024.
Before making his public statement, Harris told ZAGSBLOG, “I just felt a lot of love from them and honestly it was a dream school of mine growing up, so it was hard to turn it down.” For me, the formal visit was the cherry on top. I spent most of my time with Coach Scheyer. On many of my visits, I have spent more time with the assistants than the head coach.
Although I would converse with the head coach, I did not enjoy hanging out with them most of the time. During the visit, it truly felt like family. For the most part, I was with the entire coaching staff.
After Trevor Keels, who is currently with the Knicks, and junior guard Jeremy Roach, Harris is the third Paul VI player to pledge to Duke. The friendship between Scheyer and Harris grew over a number of years, beginning while Scheyer was recruiting Keels. PVI coach Glenn Farello stated, “We appreciate the work that coach Scheyer and his staff have done, and I know Darren and his family genuinely appreciate it.”
Roach, Anthony Harris of UNC, and Brandon Slater of Villanova, three members of the program’s state championship squad, made it to the Final Four the previous season (though Harris was out due to injury).
“[Scheyer] is aware of my shooting prowess, so he discussed all of his shooting experiences, including those of Grayson Allen, Luke Kennard, and J.J.
