The trending hashtag #F1Rigged has ignited a fierce debate, with many claiming the Red Bull star is benefiting from “suspiciously favorable treatment.”
The outrage began after a late-race safety car appeared just as Verstappen was falling behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Within minutes, Red Bull pitted Verstappen and he emerged with fresher tires—while other teams claimed they weren’t informed in time to react.
“It’s too convenient,” one fan wrote on X. “Every time Max is in trouble, something magically helps him out.”
Adding fuel to the fire, team radio footage released after the race revealed cryptic messages between Red Bull strategists and FIA officials. Though there’s no official wrongdoing confirmed, fans and rival teams are questioning how Verstappen consistently finds himself in race-saving scenarios.
Toto Wolff, Mercedes Team Principal, didn’t hold back:
“We need transparency. This isn’t how racing should work.”
Even former F1 drivers have chimed in.
“It’s starting to look like WWE with wheels,” said one pundit on Sky Sports. “Predictable, dramatic, and rigged for headlines.”
The FIA has responded, stating:
