Martin Henderson penned a tear-jerkingly honest post about losing his beloved dog Sammy, and he didn’t hold back, leading fans to come to the actor’s aid. Over the weekend, the 49-year-old Virgin River star shared a photo of a lovable puppy he got the chance to snuggle and alongside the adorable snap, he opened up about the grief he still feels two years after he first mourned Sammy’s loss. “Many people ask me where Sammy is. I’ve mentioned before that he sadly passed away two summers ago,” Henderson began in the caption of his Nov. 26 upload. “Been a big empty space in my life since which I’ve managed to fill with a huge amount of gratitude for the blessing he was in my life and all the love we shared.”
It didn’t take long for social media users to fill up the comments with love, support and even some advice for the Grey’s Anatomy alum to move forward with his grief. “Another dog will help heal your heart,” one top-liked comment suggested. “And there are so many that need a home. It wouldn’t be replacing Sammy. It would be saving a dog’s life and giving it a home. Sammy would like that.”
