The gifted Jane Seymour led the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman cast in bringing the 1860s Colorado Springs to life. The popular show combined drama, medicine, and frontier life in a compelling way. From 1993 till 1998, the show was very popular.
Janey Seymour (Dr. Michaela Quinn), Joe Lando (Byron Sully), William Shockley (Hank Lawson), Chad Allen (Matthew Cooper), and Shawn Toovey (Brian Cooper) were among the cast members of the Saturday-night CBS drama. It also featured a number of well-known cameos, such as Johnny Cash. It was the final popular Western to appear on network television.
When the show was canceled, the audience was devastated. More than 100,000 letters, faxes, phone calls, and emails were sent to CBS criticizing the choice. According to CBS Television President and CEO Leslie Moonves, “I got more letters on that show than on all the rest of the shows I have canceled together,” Deseret News was informed.
The outstanding Jane Seymour, who played the titular role of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, was at the center of the film.
1951 saw the birth of Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg in England, the future Seymour. Her breakthrough performance was in the 1973 film Live and Let Die as Bond girl Solitaire. Before landing the lead role in Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, she went on to star in movies like Captains and the Kings (1976) and Onassis: The Richest Man in the World (1988).
