The Kentucky Wildcats have landed a major international recruit as Croatian center Andrija Jelavic officially announced his commitment to join the storied basketball program.
Standing at 6’11” with a versatile inside-out game, Jelavic has drawn comparisons to European stars like Nikola Vučević for his soft touch around the rim and high basketball IQ. The 18-year-old has been a standout in the Adriatic League and impressed scouts with his performances for Croatia’s U18 national team.
“I’m honored and excited to be joining Big Blue Nation,” Jelavic said in a statement. “Kentucky is a program with a rich tradition and a great development system. I can’t wait to get to work.”
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope praised Jelavic’s skill set and potential impact on the team. “Andrija brings a unique blend of size, skill, and feel for the game,” Mark said. “He’s going to be a great fit in our system, and our fans are going to love what he brings to the court.”
Jelavic’s commitment is a big win for Kentucky, which continues to build a strong 2025 recruiting class. With his combination of international experience and high upside, he’s expected to be a key contributor from day one.
