Breaking News:6-foot-2 Five-Star SG with NIL Valuation worth over $587,000 makes decision to join Mark Pope’s Kentucky over John Calipari’s Arkansas and Eric Musselman’s USC………..
This season, Andrew Carr is expected to have a big impact on Kentucky men’s basketball. Carr, a 6-foot-11 Wake Forest transfer who is already projected to start as the four-man, has high expectations from Mark Pope (recall his statement that he could play a “Lauri Markkanen type role”?).
Carr will play his fifth and final season in Lexington after attending Delaware for his first two collegiate seasons and Wake Forest for the next two. He will bring a wealth of experience and floor-stretching skills to the Wildcats in 2024–25, having made 112 starts in his career and hitting 34.4 percent from three-point range.
What else do we need to know about Carr, though? To reveal a little more, he recently had a meeting with the UK video crew. Carr discusses in the video below how his older brother helped him grow up and how his father exposed him to basketball at a young age (both his dad and his uncle played collegiate ball at Delaware). But he did not know basketball could be a source of income until he had a significant growth spurt early in high school.
“To be quite honest, I did not even realize for a long time that I was going to be playing college basketball,” said Carr, who gained seven inches between his freshman and high school seasons. “It simply adds even more specialness to moments like these.”
Carr continues by saying that it was not until his sophomore year that he even began playing AAU basketball. He also discussed his general enthusiasm for Pope’s debut season, which features a whole different coaching staff and roster. He can not wait to start this new chapter in Kentucky men’s basketball history and play in front of the Big Blue Nation.
