In a remarkable act of generosity and social responsibility, world No. 1 Iga Świątek has announced that she will be donating the entire value of her newly signed one-year contract extension—along with the $250,000 bonus she earned for reaching the Sweet 16 in the latest WTA tournament—to a series of charitable organizations supporting underprivileged youth and homeless communities around the world.
Świątek made the announcement via her official social media channels earlier today, stating that her recent success both on and off the court has given her “a unique platform to give back in a way that truly matters.”
“This sport has given me everything—opportunity, purpose, and global support,” Świątek wrote. “Now it’s my turn to give others a chance, especially those who are too often overlooked. Every person deserves a safe home, dignity, and the opportunity to chase their own dreams.”
The funds will be distributed among several global and grassroots organizations focused on housing, education, mental health, and youth mentorship, with a significant portion also being directed to shelters in her native Poland.
WTA CEO Steve Simon praised Świątek’s gesture, calling it “a shining example of leadership, empathy, and the kind of impact athletes can have beyond the game.”
Świątek’s actions have sparked an outpouring of admiration from fans, fellow athletes, and public figures alike, with many calling her a “champion for humanity.”
At just 23 years old, Świątek continues to redefine what it means to be a role model in sport—showing that greatness isn’t only measured in titles, but in compassion, conviction, and meaningful action.
