Netflix is serving up an ace with its latest sports documentary series, “Behind the House: Emma Raducanu”, diving deep into the life of one of tennis’s most enigmatic young stars. The docuseries, which premiered globally today, peels back the curtain on Raducanu’s meteoric rise, personal battles, and the pressures of fame after her historic 2021 US Open win.
The series—filmed over the past two years—offers unprecedented access to Raducanu’s training camps, injury struggles, media scrutiny, and emotional moments both on and off the court. Viewers will witness never-before-seen footage of her comeback efforts, conversations with her family, and candid interviews where Emma opens up about the toll fame took on her mental health.
“There were times I felt like I wasn’t in control of my own story,” Raducanu says in one emotional scene. “This gave me a way to reclaim that.”
Produced by the team behind Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the documentary doesn’t shy away from controversy, including her frequent coaching changes, public criticism, and the struggle to balance endorsements with performance.
Early reviews hail the series as “raw,” “beautifully human,” and “a must-watch not just for tennis fans, but anyone who’s ever faced pressure under the spotlight.”
The first three episodes of “Behind the House” are now streaming, with the remaining installments set to drop weekly.
Raducanu, now 22 and mounting a full-time return to the WTA Tour, hopes the series will remind people she’s more than just a one-time champion—she’s still writing her story.
