Barry Gibb makes a comeback to the Bee Gees’ sound through…
Barry Gibb brought the Bee Gees library to Music City for his most recent album, “Greenfields.” “I got bitten by Nashville,” he said, “because Nashville is about music. It is about real songs.” The songs are well-known, but the arrangements are fresh.
The last surviving Gibb Brother reached out to producer Dave Cobb, and said, “This is where I gotta go. This is the kind of music I love.” And he teamed up with some of Nashville’s biggest stars, including Jason Isabel, Alison Krauss, Brandi Carlile and Keith Urban,
“A phenomenal experience,” said Gibb, “was recording the album at the historic RCA Studios in Nashville. Studio B is where Elvis, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson [recorded].” Dolly told him, “Where I am standing,’ she said, ‘is where I sang ‘Now I will Always Love You’ and ‘Jolene,’ in the same afternoon!” So, it is very special, very special to be in that environment.
Born in Britain and nurtured in Australia, the Gibb Brothers, and Barry especially, were influenced by American country music. He would go on to have multiple country hits with other singers.
