Acaden Lewis, a former Kentucky basketball commit and one of the top guards in the 2025 recruiting class, has officially announced his new college destination: the University of Maryland.
Lewis, a 6-foot-3 point guard out of Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., originally pledged to Kentucky in late 2024 but reopened his recruitment following coaching changes and a reassessment of his fit within the Wildcats’ evolving system. After drawing renewed interest from programs across the country, Lewis ultimately chose to stay closer to home and play for the Terrapins under head coach Kevin Willard.
“Maryland felt like the best place for me to grow on and off the court,” Lewis said in a statement. “The coaching staff believes in me, and I’m excited to represent my home region.”
Lewis brings elite court vision, a strong mid-range game, and leadership qualities that made him a coveted prospect nationwide. His commitment is a major win for Maryland, which continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail.
Kentucky, meanwhile, has shifted its focus to other backcourt targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes as it looks to retool its roster under Mark Pope.
