Wilt Chamberlain’s Most Absurd Records That…
In the NBA’s GOAT discussion, Wilt Chamberlain is not mentioned very much, but maybe he ought to be. As a player, the 13-time All-Star was the first to really dominate the game. Throughout his 15-year career, he was named to two All-Defensive teams, ten All-NBA teams, earned four MVP awards, and won seven scoring crowns.
No other basketball player since has been able to match the breadth and depth of his domination during that era.
To put things in perspective, he smashed a number of records that are still unmatched today. Recently, Reddit user u/mysticmuzic created a list of his best ones:
The most attempts to make a shot in a game without missing (18–18)
– The longest streak of games without a foul (1045)
– Season’s highest scoring average (50.4)
– The most points (100) in an NBA game
– Season’s highest number of minutes played per game (48.5)
– With 32 career 60-point games, Kobe Bryant is in second place with 6. Hence, compared to the next closest player, Wilt has more than five times as many 60-point games.
During the 1961–1962 season, Wilt scored 45 points more than Michael Jordan did during his whole career (31).
Wilt scored 65 points or more in 15 different games. Only eight other NBA games total from the other leagues exist.
Wilt scored 70 points or more in six different games. Five such games have been completed by the remainder of the NBA.
Wilt is the only player to have ever scored 60 points or more in four successive games.
