Why, Despite Her Royal Status, Kate Middleton Isn’t Traveling with the Royals to Japan?
The Japanese Emperor and Empress were welcomed to the United Kingdom by Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other royals, although Kate Middleton was not present to assist with hospitality.
On June 25, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako formally began their state visit. Before joining King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, at Horse Guards Parade in London for the formal greeting, Prince William, 42, welcomed the couple at their hotel.
The Emperor and Empress returned to Buckingham Palace for an evening extravaganza following a visit to Westminster Abbey, lunch, and a display of objects from the Royal Collection.
It was believed that Princess Kate would not be present on the first day of Japan’s state visit. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales did not return to royal duties or public life, despite the fact that she made her public debut at Trooping the Colour on June 15—her first appearance in the spotlight in almost six months.
In a private letter that was made public on June 14, Kate stated that she is “starting to do a little work from home” and that she “hopes to join a few public engagements over the summer.” But her ability to go places and the advice of her doctor will determine when she can in the upcoming weeks.
