The Q&A: Steve Kerr talks Team USA, Warriors’ next chapter and more | NBA How did you leave it with the guys who didn’t play so much, specifically Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton? Those guys were all great. Jayson handled things so well. Then obviously it became a media subject, but he couldn’t have handled it better. Tyrese, same thing. Every game was different. And we talked about that from the first night – 12 superstars and probably only nine can play consistent minutes.

They handled themselves really professionally and pulled for each other. I couldn’t be prouder of them all. So when you go into Boston this season on Nov. 6 (7:30 ET, ESPN), how are Celtics fans…? I think they’re going to be all over me. [laughs]. That’s fine. Ranking: The Top 100 players in the NBA for 2024-25 | Hoops Hype 14. Steph Curry (Golden State)
14. Steph Curry (Golden State) This may seem like a bit of a low ranking for superstar point player Stephen Curry. After all, he recently won Clutch Player of the Year, was named to the Third Team of the NBA, was an All-Star, and averaged over 26 points and five assists per game on 40.8 percent three-point shooting. The Golden State Warriors, however, missed the playoffs for the second time in the previous four seasons despite his outstanding play. Plus, Curry’s next season will be his age-36 campaign, so if we project a slight drop-off for the former two-time league MVP and progression from other promising young point guards like Haliburton and Brunson, Curry’s place on this ranking starts to make more sense.
The upcoming season may be a bit of a passing-of-the-guard season in the NBA’s point-guard hierarchy, but we still expect Curry to remain among the best at the position in 2024–25 and challenge for All-NBA honors once more. Possible Los Angeles Lakers Trade Targets This NBA Season | Bleacher Report: Steph Curry was recently extended by the Warriors, but he is still technically eligible for trade this season. If Golden State collapses and Curry pushes for a trade to the Lakers, it’s difficult but conceivable.
Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns are comparable. While the Lakers may not be looking to sign a big-time player, if Curry and Durant were to become available, they would most likely be the exception. Regarding the Warriors, Draymond Green (of the Klutch Sports band) is well-liked by James and Davis. The Lakers need a center, but do they really need a smaller, older, non-shooting one now that he’s available? There might not be any intelligence. Even yet, if Golden State struggles, it will be important to keep a watch on Green. NBA expansion will be considered, but not quite yet, according to Silver | ESPN
The main reason there wasn’t much talk about growth in this meeting—which wasn’t due to a lack of desire, per se—was that we had informed them that we weren’t quite ready, Silver stated during his news conference on Tuesday afternoon at a posh midtown Manhattan hotel. “We plan to address it this season, but we’re not quite ready yet,” we informed our board. However, I believe that there is interest in the process and that we haven’t yet reached a point where we’ve decided on any particular markets or, to be honest, where to expand.
Charles Barkley: “I would be lying if I said we weren’t interested,” says an ESPN executive | The Athletic Burke Magnus, the chief content officer of ESPN, stated on Tuesday that if Barkley were available, he would be open to joining the network. When asked if he could picture a world with Barkley at ESPN during a Front Office Sports conference in New York, Magnus replied that he could. Magnus said, “Yeah,” during the “Tuned In” seminar. That would be the ideal situation. If I claimed we weren’t interested in Charles, I would be lying. Everybody in the industry is intrigued.
Chairman of NBC Mark Lazerus stated that Barkley would pique his curiosity as well. Next season, NBA broadcasts will begin on NBC.
