Urgent:Terri Clark Rushed to the hospital in a critical condition
“In an era of divas, people used to label me a honky-tonker,” Canadian singer-songwriter Terri Clark tells Billboard of her mid-1990s musical success, which made her one of the few female “hat acts” of the era.
In contrast to the ceiling-scraping vocals and sequined, spangled attire that other female country musicians were known for at the time, Clark had a conversational vocal style, wore simple jeans and boots, and mixed ballads like “If I Were You” with upbeat tunes like “You are Easy on the Eyes.”
However, a new generation of artists has been influenced by Clark’s independent-minded philosophy. In order to recreate her collection of songs, Clark has now collaborated with other contemporary country hitmakers on Terri Clark: Take Two, which will be released on May 31 via Mercury Nashville/UMe.

Regarding the album’s creation, Clark told Billboard, “Ashley McBryde was at the top of my list.” She is the perfect example of a true artist, and we have been friends since 2017. I have always respected folks who do not hesitate to be authentic. Ashley has mentioned in interviews how my work has influenced her, and I found that to be extremely moving. You do not imagine that what you are doing will one day encourage someone to just be themselves.
