Urgent:Laura Farms Rushed to the hospital in a critical condition
Plans to construct six solar farms throughout Jersey have sparked concerns. At St. Clement, the first site is almost finished, and two more have advanced past the planning stage. Construction is anticipated to start in early 2025.

“These fields in St. Mary are in the top 50% of land for Jersey Royals,” stated Ms. Layzell. We adore this island, and I believe that for the sake of our future generations, we must preserve agriculture and these expansive rural vistas.
Five of the six suggested locations, according to Jersey Farmer’s Union representative Doug Richardson, were regarded as ideal agricultural territory. He stated: “The process should stop there and at least what they deliver could be examined before greater development begins.” He was referring to the three authorized sites.
“There are a number of great reasons why we want to do it,” he said, describing the company’s motivations for constructing the solar farms. “These include energy sovereignty, opportunities to expand our agrivoltaics [the practice of using land for both agriculture and solar energy production], opportunities to use land better than it is used today, and most importantly, continuity of supply for Jersey residents.”
