Trade Declined:Hollywood Star Stana Katic Turns Down $160Million Deal Offer Due To….
Should ABC go ahead with a ninth season of long-running procedural “Castle,” star Stana Katic will not return, Variety has confirmed. Co-star Tamala Jones will also be exiting. This was a decision made by ABC and ABC Studios. “Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series ‘Castle’ for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship,” ABC said in a statement. “Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of ‘Castle.’”
After lengthy talks, Katic secured a one-year contract last year to continue her role as Detective Kate Beckett against Nathan Fillion, who is scheduled to return as Rick Castle in the season.
Medical examiner Lanie Parish was portrayed by Jones. “I have had so much joy portraying the beautiful and uncensored ‘Lanie’ over the past eight seasons,” Jones remarked. “I will be terribly missing the crew and cast. Working with this highly hardworking bunch of folks has been a privilege. Thank you to the fans for their continuous support and to ABC for this chance. I am excited for what is next because this journey has been amazing.
The amount of episodes for the ninth season of “Castle” has not yet been decided upon by ABC.
