On Thursday, December 8, Ronnie Turner passed away, according to statements on social media made by his mother and wife.
Ronnie Turner, my youngest son, passed away on December 9. Tina Turner announced his passing on Instagram on the same day, writing, “Ronnie, you departed the world far too early. In grief I close my eyes and think of you, my darling son.”
Ronnie had been a bass player in both of his parents’ bands, according to Billboard. Along with guitarist and songwriter Patrick Moten, he also had his own band, Manufactured Funk.
In addition to dealing with numerous medical issues, the late musician fought cancer.
Singer and French wife of Ronnie Turner, Afida Turner, wrote a heartfelt remembrance on social media, saying, “This time, despite my best efforts, I was not able to save you. I have loved you for the past 17 years, but this is terrible, and I am furious. This is tragic; may your father, Ike Turner, and brother Craig, as well as Aline, rest in paradise. So unjust.”
In 2018, 83-year-old Tina Turner lost her first son, Raymond Hill, to suicide. Ike Turner, her spouse, passed away in 2007. Her second and youngest victim was Ronnie.
