The Indiana Hoosiers’ Mike Woodson Is not Bob Knight Just Yet, But…
Almost everything about Indiana basketball is trending in the direction of being similar to the heyday of the late Bob Knight.
All right, well, there is one thing, but it has to do with March and the chaos surrounding the NCAA men’s tournament. Let us go back to December and the hope that the Hoosiers will strive to consistently balance their financial grandeur with their on-court performance, which has been there for a long.
Before the outbreak, Indiana’s three-year average of $37.5 million in income ranked them third among the most valuable collegiate basketball programs according to Forbes. Nevertheless, the Hoosiers’ financial situation has improved over the last two seasons, with Mike Woodson returning to Bloomington, Indiana, albeit as head coach rather than as a fantastic Big Ten player at Indiana under Knight in the 1970s.
The crowds.
Yeah, the red and cream of the Hoosiers rule those crowds, not only at their Assembly Hall, a noise factory with 17,222 seats, but pretty much anywhere else they play.
That was the case on Saturday in Atlanta, where Tulane took on Mississippi State in the opening game of the Holiday Hoopsgiving basketball tournament at State Farm Arena, and Indiana faced Auburn in the championship game. In the former case, the attendance was somewhat larger than nonexistent, whereas in the latter one, the venue was largely packed and the noise level was the same for both sides.
