“Tears in the City:It’s not much of a surprise, but Mark Pope announced today that Kentucky Wildcats guard Kerr Kriisa will miss the remainder of the season.
“We’re past the time now where he could truly get back,” Pope told reporters on Thursday. “It’s been a little bit of a stubborn healing process, and he just hasn’t hit the benchmarks he’s needed to get there in terms of that healing process.”
This is really not surprising. Even if the healing process was 100% finished, Kriisa has not practiced since the surgery, and it would take a long time to come back into the right conditioning to play in a
Kriisa may play collegiate basketball for a sixth season because he is qualified for a medical redshirt. It is unclear if he will use that medical redshirt and if Kentucky or another school will be his sixth year, but at least he has the choice.
With nine games played, Kriisa finishes his Kentucky season with an average of 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per contest. In Kentucky’s victory over Bucknell in the season’s second game, he recorded a season-high 12 assists. This season, that is the
