Oklahoma defeated Texas 8–4 on Thursday night to sweep the Women’s College World Series championship in two games, as they slugged their way to a record fourth consecutive NCAA softball victory thanks to a go-ahead, bases-clearing double from Cydney Sanders. Under coach Gasso, the Sooners won their eighth overall championship and tied Arizona for the second-most World Series titles, behind UCLA's twelve. Key players on each of the Sooners' previous four championship teams included Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hansen, Rylie Boone, and pitcher Nicole May.
