“Status Quo Shocker: You Won’t Believe What They Just Announced!”
One of the longest-lasting collaborations in rock history came to an end when Francis Rossi received the phone call from his manager, something he had been dreading for years.
The future of Status Quo was in jeopardy with the death on Christmas Eve of Rick Parfitt, a man he had known since he was sixteen.
However, Francis shares for the first time how, when the musician lay lifeless in a Marbella, Spain, he was consoled by the sound of Rick’s voice resonating in his ears.
“I heard him on Christmas Eve, and I know it sounds crazy. “See Frame (Francis’s nickname), at least I did not die on a show day,” he said to me, as I overheard him say.
“He would have understood that we would have canceled the event out of respect if he passed away on a show day or a few days beforehand.”
After suffering a heart attack on stage in June 2016, Rick had been recovering. However, it became out that he had died from a severe infection after suffering a shoulder injury.
