Status Quo is pleased to announce the forthcoming “Driving to Glory” CD and Picture Disc 12” Single – available to pre-order…..
Fans of Status Quo traveled from far and wide to witness what might have been the last performance ever by the band.
The British rock group performed as the main act at Vivary Park in Taunton on Friday as part of Live in Somerset.
Francis Rossi, the lead vocalist, had earlier stated in a Daily Mirror interview that he thought this tour would be their last, and the tour’s final show was in Taunton.
The band did not give a lavish farewell on stage, but 61-year-old fan Alfonso Cacciatore, who has witnessed Status Quo perform live over 300 times, expressed that the band’s tour announcement will “leave a void.”
“It is really personal. We are all meeting afterwards and some of the band will be there as well,” Mr. Cacciatore, who had traveled to Taunton from Kettering, said. “Deep down,” he thought it would be the band’s final concert. “But I hope not,” he added, adding that he still “always gets butterflies” at the shows. The band was originally formed in 1962 as The Paladins, and they tried out several names before settling on Status Quo.
Cardiff residents Michelle, 62, and Peter Moore, 65, told the BBC that they first met in 1977 at a Status Quo show in Cardiff.
“And we have attended roughly sixty concerts since,” Mrs. Moore, who bears a tattoo of Francis Rossi’s signature on her arm, stated.
When asked if they thought they were at the band’s final performance, she replied, “We think so.”
Herbert Adelbauer, a 37-year-old fan, stated he will be returning by plane on Saturday at 06:00 BST after leaving Vienna early on Friday morning for his 61st Quo performance.
