Stana Katic claims that sud caused her to feel “hurt” and “confused.”
Even though Stana Katic was fired from the ABC comedy series “Castle” four years ago, the actress still finds the experience painful.
The 42-year-old, who appeared in the program for eight years as Rick Castle’s (Nathan Fillion) love interest and Det. Kate Beckett, was allegedly fired due to financial constraints.
She recently expressed her confusion and hurt upon learning that she will not be returning for Season 9 to Australia’s Daily Telegraph (via the Daily Mail).
“Time has gone by, and I am incredibly grateful to have contributed to that effort and for it to have had such a positive impact on so many others.” People adored the tale we told, adored all of those characters, and they adored [Kate and Nathan Fillion’s Rick as a couple], Katic continued.
ABC issued a statement regarding the casting change back in 2016: “Kate Beckett has spent the last eight years as a beloved character on our successful series ‘Castle.'” We hope to work with Stana Katic in the future and are appreciative of her ability and commitment to the series. We are happy that Tamala Jones was a part of “Castle,” as she has also played a crucial role in the series.”
However, in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Katic admitted, “I am honestly still not clear on the thought process behind the way that it went down,” after having some time to reflect about her abrupt departure. It was a painful and abrupt conclusion.
