Sir Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, was compelled to leave a prominent position.
Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, shockingly stated that he was leaving his position as Vice President of the RSPCA.
The 77-year-old celebrity accepted the post in 2012 because he has long been a fervent supporter of animal welfare concerns. But now that he is resigned from the coveted position due to reports of “conditions in some farms,” things have drastically changed.
The musician sent a complete letter of resignation to the RSPCA’s board and trustees, which he shared on Instagram. “My letter of resignation earlier today as a Vice President to the RSPCA,” he wrote as the caption for the photo. A really depressing day with a difficult choice to make. However, I believe the RSPCA has had plenty of opportunity to act appropriately and has attempted to defend its stance in light of the recent disclosures regarding the state of some farms included in the RSPCA Assured program.”
“And in the meantime, nice people out there are still paying more for product that has the RSPCA sticker on it, believing that this will shield farm animals from abuse,” he went on. Despite all the wonderful things the RSPCA does, it was a really difficult decision, but ultimately I had no other choice.”
