When it came to Shamar Arnoux, Auburn never gave up.Auburn is the last stop on the recruitment rollercoaster.The sixth significant flip for the Tigers this cycle occurred Thursday morning when the Carrollton, Georgia-born Rivals250 cornerback switched his pledge from USC to Auburn.
When asked why he flipped, Arnoux told Rivals, “It is just how near to home and how they make me feel as a staff. And the potential to play early.”
The majority of Arnoux’s recruitment efforts were dedicated to a particular program.In the spring of his sophomore year, he made an early commitment to Tennessee, which he later renounced in February of this year.Arnoux carefully considered a number of universities over the course of the following four months before deciding on USC, Florida State, or Auburn.At the Rivals Five Star event in Jacksonville, Florid
Despite a commitment to the Trojans, Auburn continued to be a consistent recruiter.He made many game-day visits in the fall and returned to Auburn’s campus for the Tigers’ Big Cat Weekend in July.Wesley “Crime” McGriff, the coach of Auburn’s cornerbacks, even traveled to Birmingham earlier this season to watch Arnoux play.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Arnoux will make his comeback this weekend when Auburn plays UL Monroe at home.He has made up his mind and decided to put recruiting on hold as early signing day approaches in less than three weeks.In the highest division in Georgia, Arnoux stated, “I am locking in and focusing on making this state championship run.”
