Shocking:Ohio State Buckeyes 5-Star DL Commit Justin Scott Flips to Miami Hurricanes
Most predictions for five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott from St. Ignatius (Chicago, IL) this past July hardly took the Ohio State Buckeyes into account, but defensive line coach Larry Johnson did his magic.
Despite being predicted to attend Miami or Notre Dame, Scott, the third-ranked defensive lineman in the class of 2024, declared his commitment to the Buckeyes.
However, Scott has already shifted his focus, switching on Wednesday night from Ohio State to the Miami Hurricanes. Some of the primary reasons for his flip, according to Scott, were the Hurricanes’ tenacity even after he committed to Ohio State and their evident need for him.
“They have not altered since they first offered me,” Scott said to On3. “They continued to recruit me and stressed the importance of my role there even after I committed. There, I have developed a lot of close bonds with all of the employees.
Strong ties with the coaching staff and the range of ways they want to employ him up front were also important considerations for Scott when making his choice. “Coaches Schrum, Salavea, Cristobal, and Taylor are the ones I am closest to,” Scott stated. “They intend to play me everywhere on the Dline from the 3 to about the 6.
