When four-star quarterback Deuce Knight, who transferred from Notre Dame, announced his commitment to Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday night, Auburn supporters were ecstatic.

After flirting with the Tigers by attending three of their first five games, Knight, who had been committed to Notre Dame for more than a year, changed his mind and chose Auburn. His most recent official visit to Auburn was on September 28 for the Tigers’ SEC

Following his announcement, Knight spoke with Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live to reveal his motivation for switching sides to Auburn. He believes that the chance of being a program-changing player lured his decision.

Knight, a four-star quarterback from George County High School in Mississippi, said, “Coach (Hugh) Freeze, he thinks we can both do some special things with the offense. We are both Mississippi boys. He says to come over to Alabama and take over college football.” Knight is ranked as high as No. 2 nationally among 2025 quarterbacks and is the No. 2 overall recruit from the cycle from Mississippi according to On3, 247Sports, and ESPN. With Knight joining their 2025 class, Auburn football’s 2025 class is now ranked No. 3 in 247Sports recruiting rankings and No. 4 by On3’s standards.
