SHOCK!!:Former Western Kentucky Transfer LB Darius Thomas Commits to Louisville Cardinals
Louisville, Kentucky On the defensive end of the field, the Louisville football program has now secured its first portal pickup. Darius Thomas, a former linebacker for Western Kentucky, declared his commitment to the Cardinals on Thursday.
After former Purdue offensive lineman Mahamane Moussa committed to Louisville on Tuesday, Thomas is the second transfer this cycle to do so.
Thomas made a name for himself as one of Conference-USA’s best linebackers this season. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound linebacker started all 13 of the Hilltoppers’ games and recorded 54 tackles, seven for loss, a team-high four sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
After graduating from high school, the Miramar, Florida native played safety and participated in eight games during his 2022 season as a true freshman. During that season, he recorded nine tackles, a pick-six, and a pass breakup. Due to an injury that kept him out of the 2023 season, Thomas switched to linebacker before the current campaign.
