In a highly anticipated showdown at the G League Elite Camp, RJ Davis proved why his stock is on the rise, leading Team One to a convincing win over Team Four, and outshining former UNC teammate Caleb Love in the process.
The game, which drew scouts, executives, and fans alike, was billed as a battle between two of college basketball’s most electric guards — and Davis delivered. The UNC veteran poured in 17 points, dished out 5 assists, and controlled the tempo from the opening tip, helping his squad secure a 78–70 victory in front of a packed gym at Wintrust Arena.
“It’s all love between us,” Davis said postgame, when asked about facing Love. “But once we’re between the lines, it’s strictly business.”
Love, now playing for Arizona, had a solid outing with 14 points and 3 rebounds, but struggled with efficiency as Davis and Team One applied relentless pressure. The matchup was a reunion of sorts, as the two guards once shared the backcourt in Chapel Hill before Love transferred to the Pac-12.
Davis’s performance turned heads among scouts, who praised his poise, playmaking, and leadership. “He’s not just a scorer,” one NBA scout said. “He’s a floor general with a high IQ — the kind of guy who makes everyone around him better.”
The G League Elite Camp serves as a critical stage for draft hopefuls, offering players a chance to impress NBA front offices ahead of the Summer League and Draft Combine. Davis’s standout showing could vault him into second-round conversations or earn him a two-way contract opportunity.
As for Davis, he’s staying focused.
“I’m here to compete and show I belong at the next level,” he said. “Today was a good step — but I’m just getting started.”
With performances like this, RJ Davis is making it clear: the next chapter of his basketball journey is just beginning — and he’s ready for it.
