The Tennessee Vols, along with Georgia Tech, Stanford, Florida State, and Ohio State, were finalists for 2025 five-star offensive lineman Josh Petty earlier this week.
Petty had Florida State as his pick because his sister would be attending the University of Tallahassee this year. Thanks to the Tennessee fandom of the five-star offensive tackle, Petty’s recruitment process also included the Vols as a program that was very much in the mix.
In August of last year, Petty told GoVols247, “My dad is a big Tennessee fan.” I was a Tennessee supporter growing up. It so happens that he is a fan. He merely mentioned how unique the atmosphere was there.”
“I mean, I am not sure how many years I have liked Tennessee,” Petty continued. “However, I recently noticed that my father sent me a photo of me in sixth grade, or whatever, with a Peyton Manning jersey on.”
Fans of Georgia Tech were ecstatic when Petty, the No. 5 offensive tackle in the country, confirmed his commitment earlier this week.
