Rafael Nadal, the tennis legend, has revealed yet more depressing thing after having to withdraw from…
Nadal’s incredible tennis career is coming to an abrupt end, and his health keeps failing him.
The French Open is the tournament that the “King of Clay” made his own, and he was expecting to have one last go at it. However, the recent news seriously doubts his ability to play at his favorite major this year, which would have been a fitting farewell to Roland-Garros.
The 37-year-old Spanish player has stated that he plans to retire following the 2024 campaign, though he may do it sooner than he anticipates.
After nearly a year out due to a hip flexor injury, he made his competitive comeback in Brisbane in January, but he has not participated in an ATP event since.
In the lead-up to the French Open, which he has won a record 14 times, the injury-plagued 22-time grand slam champion was anticipated to return for the clay-court swing. However, he skipped the Indian Wells Masters last month, claiming he was not “ready to play at the best level”.
In a statement posted on social media on Thursday, Rafael Nadal stated, “These are really trying moments for me, sports wise.”
Regretfully, I must inform you that I will not be participating in the Monte Carlo tournament. My body just will not let me.”
