Rafael Nadal Returns To Training After Thigh Injury Fear in Store…
Rafael Nadal resumed training at Roland Garros on Friday following an injury scare that cast doubt on his ability to compete in the Olympics in Paris.
The 14-time French Open champion rehearsed alongside Carlos Alcaraz, who he will play partner for Spain in Saturday’s men’s doubles opening round.
After missing practice the next day due to a thigh injury sustained on Wednesday, the 38-year-old had his right leg bandaged.
According to his coach Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal is striving to recover in time.
Moya had said on Spanish radio on Thursday, “Do not force it at the moment and give him time to see if he heals properly.”
“We will check up on him tomorrow and Saturday.”
In their inaugural doubles match, Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni will square off against Nadal and Alcaraz, the defending French Open and Wimbledon champions.
After that, on Sunday, Nadal is slated to play the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the singles, with the possibility of a rematch with longtime foe Novak Djokovic in the second round.
