Breaking Barriers:Kentucky WBB still in position to host in NCAA Tournament in latest Bracketology If Kentucky would have taken down Oklahoma on Friday, that would have for sure cemented a top 16 seed for the Cats, meaning that they’d get to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Historic Memorial Coliseum. However, as we know, Kentucky lost, and so there’s still a chance that Kentucky may not host. In fairness, that may be a small chance — especially considering some of the losses that teams like Tennessee, Kansas State and North Carolina have taken — but a chance nonetheless. The latest ESPN Bracketology update was very favorable to Kentucky, however. In Charlie Creme’s eyes, Kentucky is still a 3-seed. The Sooners are also a 3-seed, and TCU and Duke are the other two 3-seed teams. Plus, a potential matchup with 11-seed Virginia Tech in the second round is on the table in the current projection. The Hokies would have to beat 11-seed Harvard in a play-in game, then upset 6-seed West Virginia in the first round. Overall, it’s a very good sign that Creme still sees Kentucky as a firm top 16-seeded team. We’ll see what the committee thinks on Selection Sunday on the 16th. New Era: Kentucky basketball needs go-to guy in postseason. Who fits bill for Mark Pope? Mark Pope molded his first team at Kentucky with the intent of making it well-rounded offensively with the added threat of having shooters at nearly every position. That kind of balance is fine and good for the regular season, but for the Wildcats to make noise starting in Nashville at the SEC Tournament, Otega Oweh needs to come up big. This may not be factually accurate, but the phrase “go-to guy” was borne out of March Madness and more specifically the NCAA Tournament. Oweh is the only player who fits that category right now for UK. There will come a point in the postseason when the Cats need someone to carry the offense. When a team has them scouted so well and has the personnel to match making every point on every late-game possession feel like that could be the game-winner. Oweh has shown he’s the guy who can get UK through, beyond just being the team's leading scorer. UK lost the potential for another player who could be that guy when guard Jaxson Robinson reinjured his wrist at Oklahoma and had to have season-ending surgery....
