Actor Brandon Lee confided in his friend Brad Pitt one evening in 1992 that he thought he would pass away young, much like his father Bruce Lee.
Pitt, who co-stars with Leonardo DiCaprio in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, talked about an especially unsettling night from his early days in Tinseltown when he ended up partying with the younger Lee in an interview with Esquire that was published on Tuesday.
Pitt remembered Lee as someone who “lived in Echo Park and drove a hearse.” “One night, after we had gone out and everyone had left, we returned to his apartment and it was around six in the morning. It was a true, you know, stone cold drunken night, and he told me then that he was afraid he would die early, just like his father. I simply attributed it to, you know, stony discourse at six in the morning. The next year, he acquired The Crow.
The 1994 release of the Alex Proyas movie, which was based on the Caliber comic, was a hit and led to the (negative) announcement of a sequel.
Bruce Lee, the martial arts expert and celebrity father of Lee, passed away in 1973 at the age of 32.
Mike Moh plays the older Lee in the television series Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The character plays a major role in both of the trailers for Tarantino’s upcoming ninth film.

DiCaprio disclosed that he saw River Phoenix the evening before the actor passed away in the same Esquire interview.
Up until the evening of October 31, 1993, the Oscar winner, who plays Rick Dalton in Once Upon a Time, claimed to have always respected Phoenix.
