NFL NEWS:Miami QB Cam Ward Could Replace Underperforming $160 Million Quarterback Via Trade
In addition to being one of the Heisman Trophy favorites, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is creating a lot of talk about being one of the best prospects in the 2025 NFL draft. Ward could be the first quarterback chosen in the draft in April.
After leading the Canes to a College Football Playoff appearance in November, the Miami quarterback may further strengthen his draft stock. In the first nine games of the 2024 season, Ward completed 67.1% of his throws for 3,146 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions.
In addition, the playmaker recorded three touchdowns on the ground and 187 rushing yards. Although Ward has plenty of NFL suitors, Chris Licata of Athlon Sports floats one landing spot above the possible choices.
Ward might be the ideal choice to take Daniel Jones’ spot as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback. The difficulty is that acquiring Ward might require the Giants to trade up. According to the current standings, the Giants have the seventh choice in the 2025 NFL draft going into Week 10.
“It is time to try again,” Licata wrote on Nov. 3. “The Giants, who have been stuck on the Daniel Jones carousel since offering him a four-year, $160 million contract in March 2023, have a potential out this offseason that would only cost the franchise $22.2 million in dead cap.”
