At the age of 43, Stana Katic was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on April 26, 1978. She is Peter Katić and Rada Katić’s daughter. She claimed to be of Croatian ethnicity, saying, “My folks are Serbs. Since we are originally from that region of the earth, I refer to us as Dalmatian. I have family that are Serb, Croat, and even a small number of Montenegrin. Her mother is from the vicinity of Sinj, Croatia, and her father is from Vrlika, Croatia.
Later, Katic relocated to Aurora, Illinois, together with her family. She moved back and forth between Canada and the US during the ensuing years. Following her graduation from West Aurora High School in 1996, Katic entered at Trinity College, University of Toronto, to study pre-law, international relations, and economics. She later transferred to The Theatre School at DePaul University, where she pursued an MFA in acting from 2000 to 2002. Katic attended the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school to further his acting studies. She has one sister and four brothers.

In the summer of 2010, Stana Katic filmed The Double with Richard Gere and For Lovers Only with the Polish brothers in France. She took home the actress title at the third annual Shorty Awards, which took place on March 28, 2011. She was the online winner of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival’s Most Glamorous Actress category in May 2011. Out of the 15 finalists, she got 17.3% of the 3,641 votes cast in her favor.
