It will not be long before LeBron and Bronny James play together for the Los Angeles Lakers in their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.
ESPN’s Shams Charania stated during Tuesday’s SportsCenter episode that it is “extremely likely” that LeBron and Bronny will play together “early” in the NBA game, making them the first father-son team to do so:
“I have been informed that it is highly probable, and the Lakers intend for LeBron James and Bronny James to become the first father-son team to play simultaneously. They will probably arrive early in the game, provided that it is competitive and fluid at the point where the Lakers are.

That will be crucial, in my opinion. In a competitive setting, the Lakers prefer to let this occur naturally throughout play. The Lakers have been debating this topic internally for a long time, but JJ Redick stated on Monday that there is still no set plan for the two of them to play together on opening night. It has never occurred in the NBA and probably will not in the future.
Charania earlier stated on October 10 that the father-son team could perform together as soon as opening night, suggesting that this has been the plan for a while.
