On Tuesday, the NBA Awards underwent a rebranding to commemorate luminaries like Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, George Mikan, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Jerry West. The NBA announced that the Michael Jordan Trophy would be the new name for the league MVP award this season, continuing the tradition started by naming the All-Star Game MVP trophy in honor of Kobe Bryant.
The NBA said in a statement on Tuesday that the redesigned trophy set “honors the league pioneers who helped define the standards of excellence that these trophies represent.”
