The cast of Fox’s psychological crime drama Murder In A Small Town, which stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk, has been expanded.
Stars like Stana Katic (Castle) and James Cromwell (Succession) are adding to the program is ensemble cast. The series now includes Mya Lowe, Aaron Douglas, Savonna Spracklin, and Fritzy-Klevans Destine.
According to Deadline, Fox acquired the U.S. rights to the series in December, making it the network’s first scripted foreign co-production under the new model.
In the film, Sutherland plays investigator Karl Alberg, who relocates to a sleepy coastal village in quest of mental clarity only to discover that “this delicate paradise has more than its share of mysteries.” Kreuk portrays Cassandra, the town librarian who ends up serving as Alberg’s “muse, foil, and romantic interest.”
The L.R. Wright novel “Karl Alberg” is the basis for the plot of Murder in a Small Town. The film is produced by director Milan Cheylov (The Cleaning Lady), head writer Ian Weir (Edgemont), and Sepia Films of Canada, in collaboration with Fox Entertainment and Future Shack Entertainment, the businesses of former USA Network President Jeff Wachtel.
Cromwell plays George Wilcox, a retired History teacher, devoted to his cherished garden. Although the tragic loss of Myra, his wife of almost 50 years, was devastating, George is a strong guy and he intends to go on. Because of his frequent visits to Gibson’s library, he has become friends with Cassandra. Next is his former “acquaintance,” Carlyle Burke, who is eighty years old. Beneath that bond is a long-buried private pain that dates back many decades.
The character played by Katic is Zoe, who lives in a stunning property outside of town and is a recluse by nature, but beneath her calm demeanor is a volatile personality that flares up at any time.
Actor Lowe (My Life with the Walter Boys) portrays Corporal Edwina Yen, a recent graduate in criminology who is a fast-rising police officer and new to the coast. Isabella Harbud, the civilian receptionist with a caustic sense of humor, is portrayed by Spracklin (Departure). Alberg’s second in command, Sergeant Sid Sokolowski, is portrayed by Douglas (Battlestar Galactica). Constable Andy Kendrick, a capable law enforcement officer with a lovely demeanor, is Destine (The Boys).
