Lukas Nelson Announces Divorce from Wife Lainey Wilson Citing Personal Struggles: ‘I’ve Been Facing a Lot Lately…….๐๐
All Things Must Passโ is one of George Harrisonโs defining solo compositions, although by all rights, it should have been a Beatles hit. There are scenes of the band rehearsing the song in The Beatles: Get Back, the new documentary. Upon the Fab Four’s decision not to record it, Billie Preston made it available on his album Encouraging Words in 1970. Harrison’s 1972 solo album featured the song as its title track, which ultimately made it iconic. It almost feels like an understatement to refer to “All Things Must Pass” as a masterpiece now, fifty years later. This secular hymn, which reflects on the fleeting nature of time, love, and beauty, is ageless and relevant at the same time.
When it comes to the passing of time, Willie Nelson is well-versed. The legendary country music performer’s first album was published in 1962, a few months before the Beatles’ Please Please Me debut. Over the past three decades, Nelson has kept up a fast pace of record releases. He gathered his kids’ abilities for his most recent, The Willie Nelson Family. The album is consistent and feels like many of Nelson’s recent releases; it does not exactly reinvent the wheel, but it is nonetheless interesting enough to give it a try. The CD includes several gospel performances, such as renditions of Hank Williams’ “I Saw the Light” and the Carter Family’s beloved hymn “Keep It On the Sunny Side.”
A cover of Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” is tucked in between the other tracks about Jesus. Lukas Nelson, Willie’s son, does lead vocals, with Willie filling in. Harrison’s masterpiece is performed by the two in a subdued, impassioned manner that makes it seem like it has been a part of their repertory for years.
