Locked In:No.1 player in America,Five-star 2025 forward Leah Macy commits to Notre Dame women’s basketball
Although Macy will not get the opportunity to play alongside Karlen and King, she is the Irish’s first commit in her class and a very good one at that. According to ESPN’s 2025 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings, the 6-3 post player is ranked No. 14. She is the most recent of Niele Ivey’s numerous top-20 recruits during her brief time as head coach of Notre Dame.
From 2023 to 2025, there were just five of them: Kate Koval (No. 5 in 2024), Emma Risch (No. 20 in 2023), Cass Prosper (No. 16 in 2023), and Hannah Hidalgo (No. 5
As a seventh grader, Macy began her high school education at Elizabeth Town (Ky.) High School. She spent her first and second seasons at Louisville’s Mercy Academy after transferring. Macy scored 2,027 points and pulled down 1,197 rebounds during his four years on the varsity team at those two schools. At Mercy, she was named to the Courier Journal All-State first team twice, and in her first year at Bethlehem, she continued the tradition.
Macy appears to be Koval’s ideal long-term partner. With Karlen, King, and Maddy Westbeld leaving the program at the end of the next season, the two of them might play together and start in the front court for four years.
