Larry Bird is among the greatest players in NCAA and NBA history, and he is perhaps the finest player to have ever played for the Boston Celtics. A video of Bird discussing his college basketball decision and the reason he chose the Indiana State Sycamores over the Division-II Kentucky Wildcats has surfaced amidst the Celtics’ NBA title celebration.
Bird went on, “So it was down to Indiana State and IU,” saying that he was unable to remain with the Indiana Hoosiers due to budgetary constraints. Thomas expressed his belief that the ‘basketball gods’ would not permit Bird to remain at Indiana because to the crazy situation that may have arisen between Bird, Coach Bob Knight, and former IU captain Quinn Buckner.
