Kelly Rowland has drawn criticism for standing up for Chris Brown at the American Music Awards on Sunday.
The artist, who is well-known from her days with Destiny’s Child, accepted the Favorite Male R&B Artist award on behalf of Brown, who has been accused of abusing women on several occasions.
The audience erupted in jeers as soon as the name of the troubled R&B artist was announced.
She went on, “Thank you for being such a fantastic performance.” “I will accept this honor and present it to you. I cherish you. Many congrats to you and all the other nominees in this category.”
Several people on social media attacked Rowland after she stood up for Brown.
